With so many modern watches on the market today, it can be rewarding to step back in time and bag yourself a true timepiece. If you’re looking to add a vintage-style watch to your collection, or maybe you’re just getting started with your watch collection, here are some of our absolute favourites.

From 1950s style watches to remade divers from the 70s, take a look at some of tour top picks from years gone by.

1. Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight

The Black Bay is back to pay an ode to the original. The Fifty-Eight has improved from its previous model and has downsized a little to give a more authentic feel of the Tudor Sub. With its brown leather strap, silver lug ends, and black and gold bezel, we’re confident you’ll enjoy the Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight just as much as us.

2. Bulova Devil Diver

In 2018, vintage watch dealer Analog/Shift (based in New York) asked fans to nominate a model they’d like to be reissued – and the Bulova Devil Diver was born. But there’s so much more to this watch than its cool name – it’s a tribute to the classic 1972 Bulova Oceanographer. This vintage-inspired watch is slightly bigger than the original, but it has a more lightweight feel and the bezel and dial are almost identical.

3. Mido Commander Shade

The Mido Commander Shade watch was a celebratory piece for their 100th anniversary, and it has its roots in the original Mido Commander from the 1970s. Back then, mesh bracelets and gradient dials were all the rage. It’s easy to see why this simple yet elegant design has been such a hit with watch enthusiasts.

4. Seiko Prospex SLA025

This Seiko diver has joined us from the year 1968. The black and gold aesthetic is a timeless tribute to the classic and ever-popular 6159-7001. The original Seiko diver will set you back around £5,000 (and this remake isn’t much cheaper) but with only 1,500 pieces made worldwide, it’s a real collector’s piece.

5. Longines Heritage Military

Launched in late 2018, this new Longines model has its roots deep in the history of World War II. Back then, members of the RAF were issued with Longines watches, and the Longines Heritage Military takes its inspiration from this. Once worn by radiotelegraph operator Stanley Turner, aboard an RAF aircraft during the Second World War, you too can now add a little piece of history to your watch collection.

With a post-war design, the Omega Seamaster 1948 is available as a Small Seconds model, sporting a brown leather strap, or a Central Seconds model with a blue leather strap.

7. Mido Multifort Datometer

Swiss brand, Mido, was busy creating reissues last year, with the Multifolrt Datometer being one of the most sought after. With the original being produced 80 years ago in 1939, this vintage-inspired watch has all the characteristics of the original Mido but distinguishes itself with its red-tipped date hand and rose-tinted dial. You’ll have to act fast if you want to get your hands this limited edition timepiece – there are only 1,918 pieces in circulation.

8. Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox channels the essence of its 1968 equivalent, with its strong, silver bezel and matte black dial. Its 42-mm steel case is water-resistant up to 200 meters. A solid collector’s item, indeed.

9. Cartier Santos

The original Cartier Santos was one of the first watches to ever be made, and this brand new model aims to pay tribute to its 1904 ancestor. The new collection replaces the previous 2004 collection and offers plenty more choice. With four different variations available, including silver and two-tone cases, it’s a great find if you’re looking for a little more customisation of your vintage-inspired watches.

10. Rado Tradition 1965

The last watch in our collection of vintage-style watches is the Rado Tradition 1965. Honouring the original 1964 model, this new design follows the Captain Cook remake that was launched in 2017. The rectangular design of the Rado has been carried forward from its original – the new version even includes a case and dial encrusted with 302 diamonds. Pretty impressive.
