2018 is set to be a huge year for gaming in the UK. No matter whether you’re a retro gaming fanatic or a pro competitor, there’s sure to be a gaming event that that you’ll love. We’ve put together our top pick of video gaming conventions UK 2018. Read on to find out more.

Pocket Gamer Connects

22-23rd January, The Brewery London

Pocket Gamer is a conference for industry professionals, focusing on news, insight and analysis of all aspects of the gaming industry. One of the highlights of the event is the pitching sessions, where indie developers working on the ‘next big thing’ can pitch their games for a chance to win some serious cash!

Play Expo Blackpool

10-11th February, Norcalympia Centre Blackpool

Play Expo returns for its 7th year in 2018, making it the UK’s longest running games expo. This family-friendly event will also be showcasing the best of tabletop games, and their education zone makes it a perfect day out for little gamers! Highlights include Q&As with YouTube gaming stars and the latest AAA games from PS4 and Xbox One.

PC Gamer Weekender

17-18th February, Olympia London

The PC Gamer Weekender is a firm favourite for gaming fans and those looking to kickstart their career in the gaming industry. With everything you’d expect from a leading gaming event, the PC Gamer Weekender also provides masterclasses and bootcamps to help you ramp up your skills.


30th March – 2nd April, NEC Birmingham

Insomnia is the UK’s largest gaming festival, with 7 zones covering everything from retro gaming to the latest VR releases. Alongside this, there are a range of talks from your favourite gaming stars and even cosplay events to get involved in. You can take part in a range of tournaments at Insomnia, including the 2018 Call of Duty World League.

London Games Festival

5-15th April, London

The London Games Festival is a 10 day event that encompasses a number of gaming events London wide. It includes the BAFTA Games Awards and Now Play This, the festival of experimental games and design. 50,000 people attended last year, making it a must attend-event for any gaming fans.


20-23rd September, NEC Birmingham

EGX is the UK’s largest video games event, bringing together the best of PC and console games with talks from game creators, designers and studios. You’ll be able to try out games months before their official release dates, as well as meeting your favourite gaming and esports stars.

    Hi i am coming to London end september with my 10 year old who is crazy about fortnite. Is there anything worth seeing or doing around thos time.
